Why Microsoft tablet goes by the name Surface?

Microsoft Surface kills the Pad with an "i"

By Prad B -

Wondering why the Redmond tablet goes by the name SURFACE? Coz First you can lay it down on the Table surface any way you want it with or without the Keyboard, second its lighter on your lap, third its Type Cover a.k.a The Keyboard is sleek and responsive and finally Fourth coz its really tough for the Cupertino iPad. Well, what is an iPad? just a BIGGER version of the iPhone. No Offense, but yes it is.

But why do they call it Pad with an "i" ? Google or Bing the word "Pad". The "i" basically means when I purchase it, no body else but "i" own it. Jokes apart, the Surface looks as promised and the price just fits the Tag. Without the keyboard, you get it for $499 and with the Type Cover it's $599. Got extra $$ on your pocket? You better get the 64 GB Surface Tablet for just $699.

Hats OFF for Microsoft again. Windows 8 is an incredible design and the surface just shows the beauty of the most anticipated master piece hardware everyone was searching for decades. Surface with Windows 8 is the best tablet so far, What a design! You get the best of both worlds: Traditional Windows Style or the new sleek Metro Style. The Choice is yours! Finally, we all have to agree on the fact that iPad is already dead. Why dead? Well, innovation needs a warm welcome. After all, you cannot imagine your grand children 20 years down the road screaming "iPad 10" on Christmas. The "i" chain should get a break now.

Lets go back to the Surface. Microsoft recently announced that Surface Tablet with Windows 8 is available for Pre-Order. Three different flavors for different budget price tags. The Surface version with Windows 8 Pro is coming soon.

First Flavor: Windows 8 RT on a 64 GB surface for $699

Second Flavor: Windows 8 RT on a 32 GB surface for $599

Third Flavor: Windows 8 RT on a 32 GB surface (Without the Touch Cover) for $499

If you can spend the extra $$, its better to go for the 64 GB surface. And if you are running out of budget, I would recommend the $499. If you need a key board, you can hook up the one you have OR get a cheap keyboard and plug it in (whenever you feel the need of typing the way we've done for decades).

The Touch Cover is simply sleek, light and soft. It feels like nothing because you don't have to Type, you just Touch the keys ! The 3mm Touch Cover comes in different colors of life from blue, red, pink, black to white. With the unique magnetic dock connector, the Touch Cover attaches with the surface tablet. You can easily flip it around 360 degrees to cover the screen, sit on the back while you use the screen or sit flat on a table or your lap as you type on its touch-sensitive QWERTY keys.

Touch Covers for Microsoft Surface is sleek and incredible unlike traditional Keyboards

Do you think the Surface Price Tag fits the innovation? Also, do you agree the Pad with an "i" looks like its going to be dead now?

I agree with the fact the iPad is just... actually all iOS devices are getting old in terms of look and feel. I used to be an Apple use, was going to switch to a MacBook, but then I thought, what the hell am I gonna use this for? So here we are, Windows 8.

MS is indeed treading water with the radical renovation of their Windows OS, and I just hope people try it out long enough to figure out it's a way ... lol... funner... experience. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's garbage. Like anything that is new, it takes time to learn, otherwise it's just the same ol' shit. Eat a dick, Apple.
By the way, if your argument for not buying Windows 8 is "No start button", then spend five more dollars here: http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/

What will annoy me is that in the UK we will pay the same number in £'s as the USA pay in $'s so for $699 unit we will be paying £699 no doubt instead of £433 with today's exchange rates.

For UK the price is as follows: £399(32 GB tablet only), £479(32 GB tablet with Touch Cover) and £559 (64 GB with Touch Cover). And that includes the VAT too.
